The first book that comes to mind is "A Young Woman After God's Own Heart", by Elizabeth George. It was awesome! :D

Yeah, it was, wasn't it? :) There's another really good one, but the name is slipping me right now...it's an older book, written in the 1800's or something. :) I wish I could remember! Maybe if I search my bookshelves dilligently I shall find it...

I remembered! It's called Beautiful Girlhood. I think. ;) and it wasn't written in the 1800's- though it is an older book. :)

Beautiful Girlhood is a good book. My mom gave me a copy when I was eleven. I think I have read it two or three times since then.
I'm interested in reading "So Much More" by Anna and Elizabeth Botkin along with "Authentic Beauty" by Leslie Ludy. Have you read those?

BarlowGirl has really inspired me in not caring what the world thinks about how I look. They also have a song about not dating.

"Anonymous": I agree with you. Barlow Girl is one of my favorite bands, especially because they take such a confident and strong stand for purity and godliness.

I've enjoyed A LOT of books that have encouraged me in my walk with the Lord, but the funny thing is, I can't really remember one by name at the moment!

The magazine BRIO is good too. They have encouraging articles and stories that challenge me spiritually.

I've read So Much More . It was a good book, with a lot of good advice, but I disagreed with parts of it as well. (With their stance on higher education, for instance.)

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I commented on the post about children and PhDs.
I found a lot of resources encouraging me in regard of biblical womanhood on the net, mainly blogs. I really enjoy the Choosinghome Blog. And then there is a blog at www.biblicalwomanhoodonline.com (hope that adress is right). I've also read "Let me be a woman" by Elisabeth Elliot, it is more about women's role in marriage.

I've been slowly reading Let's Talk! by Danae Dobson. I like it. It's a good book for teenagers to read. Very real. It's also good for when you need quick advice, you just go through the index and find what you need.

Another Edith Schaeffer book: L'Abri.

This one is not specifically about womanhood. It is more of an autobiography. However, it has encouraged and inspired me about femininity more than nearly any other book.

May I recommend Natalie Nyquist's excellent book Quest for the High Places? It is well worth reading and has so encouraged me!

So Much More is a good book. It wakes us girls up to the battle waging around us.

Authentic Beauty is something else. It is well written and has some very challenging and encouraging things to say, especially in the last chapters. However in talking about purity it takes the reader's mind through the mud in order to make its points. I didn't like having my mind dragged through the mud and as a result have a hard time recommending this book. If you've been public schooled maybe you won't notice. But if a girl has been raised to be pure and has been protected from a lot of the rubbish in the world she'd be better of choosing to read something else, such as Emotional Purity by Heather Paulsen, Let me Be a Woman by Elizabeth Eliot, Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald S Whitney and definately So Much More!

The book "Do you think I'm Beautiful?" by Angela Thomas is good. Also, "Every Young Woman's Battle" by Shannon Ethridge but be careful with this 1 the 1st 5 chapters are very grafic.

Anyone know of any other magazines?

I just found a new book called "Before you meet Prince Charming" by Sarah Mally. It is probably one of the best I've read. I'm going to tell my mom that my 13 and 10 year old sisters need to read it. Most of the ones I have read would not be good for my youngest sister. But this one is excellent.

About the magazines. Brio is excellent. All of their articles I do not 100% agree with, but the majority of it is very encouraging.

I'd also like to recommend Quest for the High Places by Natalie Nyquist and Before You Meet Prince Charming by Sarah Malley. I just recently read both of them, and they are excellent! They deal with many aspects of waiting for the only one for you, and what you can do to use your time wisely in the meantime. I highly recommend both of them!
