Your Thoughts!

We would love to know what you think!

I have been updating various blog pages here at BftH and I am trying to update our reading list. Here is a question for you: what books, blogs, magazines, etc., have encouraged you in your pursuit of biblical womanhood?

Also, if anyone has shared with you good advice about becoming a godly woman, please feel free to share it in the comment section under this post!
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."--1 Thessalonians 5:11
*Note: Please carefully consider books you recommend here, as they may be inappropriate for some of our younger readers.

Beautiful Girlhood is an appropriate book for all ages, and I've found in helpful in pondering my own development.

Hi,
A while ago I had to do a questionaire type of thing for Bible. I had to ask three women what they thought about becoming a Godly woman. One of them told me to be around women who love God and display qualities that you would like to have. An obvious thing to do would be to love God and delve into the treasures that His word holds.

I'm not currently subscribed to Hopechest Magazine (www.hopechestmagazine.com), but a friend gave me five years of back issues, and I've loved them! They are Biblically sound, mostly reader written, and overall, just excellent!

Also, a new e-zine I'd recommend is Keepers of Heart and Home (www.keepersmagonline.com/)

One book I've enjoyed is Common Sense Christian Living, by Edith Schaeffer. She addresses many things from a Godly woman's perspective (although I would recommend this book for teens/women only, not for very young girls, as the book also deals with some serious topics such as "choice" (ie., a*******).

Great idea, girls!

My recommended books are:

His Chosen Bride by Jennifer Lamp (A must-read for all young women. "Applying Proverbs 31 as a single young woman.")

Beautiful Girlhood--good for all ages

Beautiful in God's Eyes by Elizabeth George--good for both wives and singles, excellent books to go through with your own mother

That's all I can think of for now, but I'll be back if I think of more!

Keep up the great work, you three. Excellent writing, and thought-provoking posts...God bless! :)

Nancy Leigh Demoss's ministry through Revive our Hearts Radio and books has encouraged me and helped my spiritual growth alot. Her teaching on radio is very biblical and practical and often deals with many different areas of Biblical womanhood - I download ROH programs from www.reviveourhearts.com. Check it out! :o)

I saw that you have "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" written by Joshua Harris. I would suggest considering adding the follow-up book, "Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello to Courtship", also by Joshua Harris. It may be more helpful to older teens who may begin courting soon. I am 20 years old and married, however, when I began dating my husband at age 17, I had heard of courtship, but was never really told what the difference is from dating. This book really helped both Garrett and me during that season of our relationship.
